Venus enters Cancer

June 2 – 27, 2021

The Goddess of Love enters the domestic domain of Cancer. Here, Venus’ outlook on relationships changes quite dramatically. Socializing and flirtation (Venus in Gemini) aren’t enough anymore. Meaningful relationships are in order: loyalty, trust, and intimacy are her mantras.

Venus in Cancer cares about everything near and dear – sometimes a bit too much. Clinginess and overprotection can become an issue of conflict. Others don’t necessarily appreciate micro-management.

Her intuitions tend to be very acute. Venus in Cancer feels things in her belly: she trusts her gut feelings. However, such notions can also be misleading. Preconceived ideas tend to bias perceptions. But perceptions also change with moods. Thus, decision-making can be a bit of an emotional roller-coaster, depending on whether the tide is in – or not.

In Cancer, Venus is emotionally rather sensitive. The Cancer shell protects her feelings. Sometimes, she does so by putting up a front, making it difficult to really know what’s in her heart. When hurt, she withdraws. But when feeling attracted to someone, she may also withdraw, for fear of making herself vulnerable. The Cancer shell acts as her shield.

Venus in Cancer needs dependability. Emotional security is all-important. However, when the going gets tough, she is likely to want to re-establish the status quo rather than confronting the issues. However, hanging on to outmoded patterns of behaviour or idealized notions of how things should be, are not very useful strategies when it comes to adapting to change. A better way would be to dig down deep and clear the mud from the source, so the waters of life and love flow clearly and freely once more.

Venus in Cancer is well capable of this kind of renewal. She sheds her skin every now and again so she can grow – if she feels safe to do so.

Venus is a fast-moving planet, which means that the effects of this transit will be felt like a passing mood. Only those, who experience it as a direct transit to planets in their personal horoscopes are likely to feel a noticeable effect.

Self-Presentation, Persona (1. House):

When Venus passes through the first house in Cancer, she follows her intuitions to find the right people at just the right time. She doesn’t flaunt her stuff, but before long she manages to cast emotional hooks that attract who and what she needs.

Money, Values (2. House):

A Venus transit through the second house in Cancer focuses on matters of security and comfort. Items with an emotional value such as heirlooms trump material assets.

Friends and Kin, Mental Processing (3. House):

When transiting Venus visits the third house, she reinforces emotional connections among siblings and kin. However, sensitivity in matters of communication is called for.

Home and Family (4. House):

A Venus transits through the fourth house, the home is the most important base. The comfort and privacy of home provide a sanctuary where she withdraws to recharge. But it is also a transit for cherishing all that nourishes us – including family, and Mother Earth.

Creativity, Children (5. House):

A Venus transit through the fifth house of children and creativity is a wonderful transit for spending time with the kids in an intimate, trusting and emotionally safe space. Without children, this energy may find an outlet via a romantic relationship.

Health, Work, Service (6. House):

A Venus transit through the sixth house is best used to give yourself some TLC. ‘Wellness’ is the magic word. Before we can help and nurture others we must take good care of our own health needs.

Partnership, Relationship (7. House):

When Venus passes through the seventh house, relationships become extra important. Maybe someone suitable appears on the radar. Venus in Cancer is likely to approach the matter sideways.

Shared Assets, Inner Resources (8. House):

A Venus transit through a Cancer eighth draws attention to the inner sphere and the emotional IQ. Working with the inner world can be a great source of nurture and replenishment.

Travel, Study (9. House):

When Venus passes through a Cancer ninth house, she expands her horizons through personal connections. When travelling, she likes to have a home away from home. Love may be a big draw to explore the world beyond. But she rarely leaves her comfort zone.

Career, Status (10. House):

A Venus transit through a Cancer tenth house indicates a favourable influence in the social sphere. Reputation matters, as does WHO you know. Personal connections can be a springboard to the future.

Community, In-Group (11. House)

When Venus transits through the eleventh house of friendships and community, the need for connection with like-minded people is very strong. Friends are like family and can give you that warm and comfortable feeling of belonging.

Spirituality, Transcendence (12. House)

Venus in Cancer in the twelfth house can care for others to the point of self-neglect. But, sometimes there are strings attached. Watch out for signs of ‘helper-syndrome.
