July overview

This is the first Astro-forecast for the second half of the year. That’s right, folks, half the year is over – gone in a blip! Time waits for no one. We are inching towards the winter solstice, one solar arch degree a day.
Sorry. Don’t mean to bring depressing news, but the New Moon at the end of June was a bit of a wake-up call. It is time to take a long, hard look and decide what is and isn’t worth our time and which projects deserve our energy. The essence of that new moon message was: Stay true to your heart and give it all you’ve got.

July 1 – 4, 2022

The beginning of July feels like we are stuck in a pinball machine. It is a bit of a wild ride. On July 1, the Sun makes a sesquiquadrate with Saturn. The natural exuberance of the Sun is hampered by Saturn, who holds us to account. Stubbornness or an extreme display of wilfulness may throw a spanner into the smooth flow we expected. Or it could be an exceedingly strong backlash in response to prior proceedings.
The next day, Mercury trines Saturn. There seems to be a willingness to work things out rationally. But then, Mercury hits a snag – a square to Neptune. The resistance is internal. Perhaps we imagine the worst possible outcome and thus feel unable to make a clear decision. On July 3 and 4, Pluto is in focus, with a sesquiquadrate to Venus and a quincunx to Mercury. Power and control issues are prominent and could lead to quarrels that seem difficult to resolve.

July 5 – 12, 2022

Mars comes to the rescue when he enters Taurus on July 5. Taurus may not be the most dynamic place for Mars, but it is grounding and firmly rooted in reality.
On the same day, however, Mercury enters Cancer, which is not so helpful. Mercury in this watery sign can be snippy yet touchy and defensive when at the receiving end of the stick.
The two form a sextile as soon as they both change signs. Pragmatism and emotional intelligence can help us move forward, but won’t wipe conflict off the table. Venus forms a semi-square with Mars on July 6. While it is important to communicate our needs and wants, we should not expect others to jump accordingly. Mercury chimes in with a semi-square to Uranus and the north node on July 8. Pay attention to the message underneath.

In the social sphere, a more consequential conflict is building up, and this aspect could manifest as the sabre-rattling provocation. On July 9, Mercury squares Jupiter, turning molehills into mountains. Someone tries to throw their weight around, but could just be bluffing. Saturn puts the brakes on with a sesquiquadrate to Mercury.

July 13 – 17, 2022

It all looks like a blustery run-up to the Full Moon on July 13, when the Sun conjunct Mercury opposes the Moon conjunct Pluto, bringing underlying issues to the surface. There is high tension in the air as Uranus is very close to the North Node and aspecting the Full Moon (trine/sextile), and Venus squares Neptune. This aspect pattern is particularly significant for the social sphere, and with Uranus so prominent, disruption is on the cards. Venus in Gemini squares Neptune in Pisces and trines Saturn. This could be a time of reckoning regarding issues from the past.
The following days are touchy. On July 15, Venus forms a quincunx with Pluto, and the Sun and Mercury are quincunxing Saturn on July 16. There are things to iron out, but it seems impossible to find a consensus. The energy shifts after the Full Moon. A trine between Neptune and the Sun and Mercury on July 17 appears to dissipate things a bit.

July 18 – 22, 2022

On July 18, Venus enters Cancer, and Mercury opposes Pluto on the same day, just before he enters Leo. The Sun follows suit on July 20. In Leo, Mercury is confident – sometimes a bit too much so, especially when backed up by the Sun.
But, making audacious statements is one thing, but backing them up with action is another. It does draw a response, though. On July 20, Mars semi-squares Neptune and Venus semi-squares Uranus, while Jupiter squares Saturn. Can you hear the crackling? It sounds like quite a spat.

The Sun enters Leo on July 22, which is usually a creative and playful time. But it seems, this year, the stars are acting out a power play.

July 23 – 27, 2022

Mercury trines Jupiter on July 23, which again is a boost to boasting. The following days are more challenging. Mercury and Venus form sesquiquadrates with Neptune on July 24, and Venus then forms a square with Jupiter. Entrenched positions and resistance to change are making progress difficult. Things are not going smoothly in the run-up to the New Moon.

July 28 – 31, 2022

The New Moon in Leo on July 28, emphasizes similar themes as the last Full Moon. Uranus is moving ever closer to its exact conjunction with the North Node, and now Mercury is squaring them. It looks like something or someone is being called out. Mercury opposes Saturn and forms a sesquiquadrate with Jupiter on July 31. On the same day, Uranus is exactly conjunct the North Node, but we have been feeling the tension building up all month, so there is no surprise here.
July ends on a fiery note. A trine between the Sun and Jupiter can be very stimulating and energetic for creatives and entrepreneurs, encouraging us to take bold action! But considering that Jupiter is in Aries, and we are not living in peaceful times, this could also be a battle cry. Of course, those possible outcomes are not mutually exclusive.
