Venus is moving into Pisces

Venus, the planet of love is leaving the rather aloof sign of Aquarius and is moving into the compassionate sign of Pisces. The sign of the Fishes is, of course, a water sign and therefore, much more slippery altogether. In Pisces, Venus’ love is oceanic, meaning, it knows no boundaries. It fills every last crack in the reef, every shell, every underwater cave. It is like liquid copper filling a mould. The finished cast is the ‘positive’ counterpart to the ‘negative’ shape that created it.

Adaptable

The idea of the mould is a very fitting image for Venus in Pisces. The ocean is boundless. In order to make Venus visible in this sign, it needs a shape that she can fill. In this sign Venus is not simply ‘lovely’, nor should she be regarded as ‘passive’ or ‘docile’. In Pisces, she can be anything. Like a chameleon, she adapts to the ebb and flow of the emotional atmosphere around her, or to the kind of people she is mixing with. But it is not just a question of pretending. She identifies with the role she takes on. It becomes like skin and she fills it, completely. It is this quality of filling the mould completely, and sensing every bump and hollow from the inside that enables her to be so empathic. She feels another’s pain or joy as if it was her own. And by extension, she also feels the pain of the world as her own. This can hurt quite a lot and it is for this reason that Venus in Pisces is not always the charming, romantic, sweetly smiling princess.

Her ability to completely merge with another makes her vulnerable to losing sight of herself. The ego-boundary become blurred and she sometimes finds it difficult to know whether she is feeling her own feelings or those of someone else she is close to.

Where is Pisces in your chart? Here is how this transit may* affect you.

*Venus moves quite quickly, so the effect of this transit is rather ephemeral – but usually pleasant if it touches on any significant points or planets in your personal horoscop.

Self-Presentation, Persona (1. House)

When Venus transits a Pisces first house it is a perfect time to become more aware of one’s own needs and to give yourself some self-compassion. Selflessness is great, but self-neglect is harmful. We can only give to others when we also nourish ourselves and take care of our own needs.

Money, Values (2. House)

With all that compassion, Venus in Pisces happily shares all she has. She can’t bear to watch others suffer – she feels their pain and feels called upon to help. She will sooner spend her money on charity than stashing it in the piggy bank. She may, however, keep a few bucks to treat herself to a wellness weekend, or to some other special treat, preferably one involving lots of chocolate. Or alcohol. Or both.

Friends and Kin, Mental Processing (3. House)

Venus in Pisces enjoys a good time. Her ability to adapt to anything and everybody makes her a bit of a social chameleon. The danger is her lack of boundaries. Knowing her limit for entertainment and all that goes with it can be her downfall.  On the other hand, Venus in Pisces is just as happy to merge with the rest of the world while being on a spiritual retreat.

Home and Family (4. House)

Venus in Pisces loves beauty and a Pisces fourth house is not just a home but her comfort zone. This is a good time for making home improvements or doing some redecorating, beautifying the home, or tackling the general chaos. Given the giving and self-sacrificial tendencies of this placement, it is important to remember to take care of your own needs, and not just of those of others.

Creativity, Children (5. House)

Venus transiting through a Pisces fifth house stirs the longing for love. If there is a certain special someone in your life, chances are, it will be a romantic time. But if there isn’t then you may well feel an intense longing for closeness and intimacy. However, don’t let that be an excuse to fall for anything or anyone. If kids are in your sphere, you are likely to enjoy them greatly at this time.

Health, Work, Service (6. House)

Venus in Pisces is very imaginative. She can imagine things in a very lucid manner as if they were right there in the room with her. This is a great time for tackling some creative project. At work, emotional issues might be more prominent at this time and it is important to address them with empathy and compassion.

Partnership, Relationship (7. House)

Well, you already guessed it. Truth be told, there could hardly be a better time for romance than when Venus travels through Pisces. She has an uncanny ability to read the needs and desires of another. The danger lies in the tendency to identify so completely with the other that she loses sight of her self. Once that happens it can be a struggle to redefine her ego-boundary and to sort out which feelings her own and which ones are projections.

Shared Assets, Inner Resources (8. House)

When Venus travels through the eighth house in Pisces intimacy is likely to run even deeper than usual. With this transit, giving is receiving.

Travel, Study (9. House)

While not a top priority, Venus in Pisces does enjoy travel, especially honeymoons, or at least a romantic get-away. She does like her creature comforts, if possible, and a luxurious wellness holiday, yoga retreat or creative self-discovery workshop would also be right up her alley. More important than the outer journey is the parallel inner journey. A pilgrimage of sorts or a wellness retreat would be just her thing.

Career, Status (10. House)

If you are looking for a promotion, the charms of Venus in Pisces’ could sway the boss to show some kindness. Other than that, it is a good time for creative endeavours, especially ones that are in some way tied to a charity. Spreading senseless acts of beauty and kindness around the workplace is likely to result in amplified returns.

Community, In-Group (11. House)

When Venus visits a Pisces eleventh house is perhaps the best time to connect with friends or to get involved in a cause to help others. Your empathy is always strong but even more engaged at this time – this is a good time to put it to work for the benefit of the greater community.

Spirituality, Transcendence (12. House)

Pisces is at home in the twelfth house but Venus is not quite so comfortable there. The dynamics of this house are a bit ambivalent. There is a tendency for excess which can go either way: it can mean total abstinence and ‘spiritual purity’ – or self-indulgence. In Pisces, Venus seeks to overcome existential loneliness. How she goes about it depends on her state of mind.
